Space Frequency Coordination Group (SFCG)

Annual Meeting

The 45th annual meeting will be held 23 June – 1 July, 2026 in Taipei, Taiwan and hosted by the Taiwan Space Agency (TASA).  More information will be posted after the first quarter of 2026.

World Radiocommunication Conferences (WRC)

WRC-23: SFCG Results

The 2023 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-23) was held from 20 November -15 December 2023 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Many items of interest to the SFCG were dealt with at WRC-23 and the results of the Conference were reviewed at SFCG-43 and compared to the SFCG WRC Objectives.  An assessment of WRC-23 Results against the SFCG Objectives can be found here.

WRC-27: SFCG Objectives

The ITU World Radiocommunication Conference 2027 (WRC-27) will be held in 2027. The World Radiocommunication Conference (Dubai, 2023) decided in its Resolutions 813 (WRC-23) and 814 (WRC-23) to recommend to Council the agenda for the World Radiocommunication Conference 2027 (WRC-27) and the preliminary agenda for the World Radiocommunication Conference 2031 (WRC-31).

The SFCG Objectives for WRC-27 were developed at SFCG-43 and updated annually as the preparations for WRC-27 progress. The most recent update was completed on 18-June-2025.

The European Scientists on Spectrum for Earth Observation (ESSEO) have compiled a useful report on Potential Impact of WRC-27 on Earth System Observation Addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals which may be helpful to space agencies.

Databases

SFCG Satellite Database (Members Only)

The SFCG Satellite Database Entry is available for member access (NOTE:This database requires separate credentials from a Member’s normal log in credentials). (Access the SFCG Database User’s Guide (PDF, 1.6 MB)) SFCG Members should contact the SFCG Satellite Database Administrator for credentials to access this database.

Remote Sensing Disaster Database

The SFCG IWG on Disaster Management produced an on-line searchable Remote Sensing Disaster Database. The database provides information on instruments, mission, frequency of operation, data product, product usage, and data latency on remote sensing missions and instruments that can support disaster management and relief support efforts. A Users Guide (PDF, 197 KB) is available to assist in using the database. Guidance in developing the infrastructure to use these data, and where to obtain training in analyzing these data, is available in Guidance and Training for Users (PDF, 136 KB). Please report any errors, necessary additions or comments to the database curator.

RFI to EESS sensors

SFCG-39 noted that the data products derived from passive sensors operated by SFCG member agencies show an increasing number of harmful interference instances where the retrieved data are corrupted and become unusable. As a result, it was agreed to set up and maintain a repository of relevant information related to Radio-Frequency Interference (RFI) into EESS sensors.

Active Sensing Information for Radio Astronomers

At SFCG-30, the SFCG agreed to assist radio astronomers in protecting their sensitive receivers from damaging interference from spaceborne radars used for Earth observation and remote sensing by providing useful links and related information
